This is our Roadtrek

A number of years ago, some friends showed us their Roadtrek.  Like many families, Loren and Fran would camp on their summer vacations.  At one point, there owned a VW Westphaliia that is basically a VW bus that owners configure to for camping.  Eventually, they graduated to a 1994 Roadtrek.  Loren gave me a tour of his RT many years ago but I suppose that planted the seed that would eventually lead to Carolyn and I purchasing our Roadtrek in 2010.  By the way, Loren and Fran still have that Roadtrek.  It now has around 220,000 miles but looks like new and is full of all sorts of neat modifications.

So, this is our Roadtrek.  It's kind of our first step as we look toward retiring in a few years.  It looks like a Chevy Van with a raised roof but it is much more.  It's a 2008 Roadtrek 190 Popular that we purchased from a man in Indiana.

Even though it's small, it is self contained motor home complete with all the comforts of home.  There is hot and cold running water, refirgerator, and a bathroom with toilet AND a shower.  The rear seat converts into a queen sized bed and there is a TV and a generator in case we want to camp where there is no electrical hookup.  If it's hot, we have AC and if it's cold, we have a propane furnace.  We have everything we need in a compact space.

I need to get a few more pictures but this will give you an idea of everything that's packed inside.  The bathroom in on the right side (behind the door with the mirror).  On the left, is the galley with sink and two burner range.  The microwave is in the upper left and the refrigerator in on the lower left. There isn't a ton of room but it's amazing how much is packed into this rig.

There is an awning that is easily deployed for shade.  A couple of folding chairs, a table and beverage of choice is all that's needed for a relaxing afternoon.  This picture was taken in our back yard.  Carolyn must be practicing how to go camping!

So this is a quick introduction to our new toy.  Who knows where it will take us.  Wherever it is, we are looking forward to the journey.
